Ban on child and force labour
- Following IWAY strategy, IKEA will not permit the use of child and involuntary worker in the organisation
- Regular inspections will be carried out on suppliers to ensure this is addressed
Promote the use of sustainable Forestry
- All suppliers of wood must follow IKEA’s IWAY standard and requirements which promote sustainable method of forestry and ban illegal deforestation
- Use renewable sources of energy in India where it is still under-developed.
Develop local community
- Enhance the standard of living in poverty regions of India
- Encourage education and support talent individual to pursue high degree of education
- Work in partnership with UNICEF to improve health in the rural areas.
- Promote Initiatives such as donating solar lamp or education resources to children for particular items sold
- Expand the partnership with UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) across India to empower women to be leaders, role models and agents of change (started in 2009 among 50,000 women in Uttar Pradesh)
